The Beginning of Bingo
The traditional game “bingo” as we know it, can be traced back to Italy as early as the 1500’s, and from there the game moved into France, where it was mostly wealthy men playing for fun, and Germany where it was used as an educational practice for children. The popular game arrived in the US circa 1929, but was called “Beano” because the players used beans to mark their cards; however the name was changed to “Bingo” by a man named Edwin S. Lowe, after hearing a player accidentally yell out Bingo! instead of Beano! Soon the bingo game was being played in churches for fundraising and was becoming more a social event, rather than just a game played by a select few; however it was a fun activity that continued to provide low-cost entertainment for people of all social scales and income brackets.
The “bingo hall” was born due to the increasing popularity of the bingo game and larger venues were needed to house the amount of people playing the fun game in which they could actually also win real money. Soon the bingo “callers” started to resemble game show hosts, and from here the whole bingo hall experience sky-rocketed. Nowadays going to your local bingo hall can be exciting; it’s a social outing, the opportunity for distraction from your everyday responsibilities, work and stress and the chance to meet other people interested in playing bingo and winning jackpot prizes!
Online Bingo Games Today
With the rising impact of many aspects of our lives going virtual thanks to the Internet, it comes as no surprise that casino games and bingo have joined the trend as well. The first, most obvious point to mention about online bingo sites is that they offer many advantages for those bingo players who aren’t looking for the commotion of a real-life bingo hall; they simply enjoy playing the bingo game and prefer to play in the comfort of their own home. As these days most people have a home computer, or at least have access to one, online bingo sites make this possible. Also there is the convenience to factor in. People run their lives around schedules: work, family, friends, commitments and all other types of time consuming responsibilities, and most of us do not have the luxury of flexibility on these schedules. So, if you want to play bingo, but can’t make the weekly or evening sessions at your local bingo hall, you’re going to be pretty disappointed (that is, of course, if there even is a local bingo hall near where you live, as let’s face it, it’s not exactly as if there’s one on every corner). Being able to play bingo online 24/7 dissipates all of these time restrictions.
Playing online bingo games at home also means you can play not only WHENEVER you want, but also HOWEVER you want! Play bingo in your pajamas if you want to, play bingo listening to music if you want, have a drink while you play, even watch your favorite TV shows while you play bingo, because remember, when you play bingo games online, it’s all pretty much automatic! When you play a bingo game online, you don’t really need to worry too much about being on top of the bingo ball numbers being called out and matching the numbers on your bingo cards, because the system automatically daubs them for you. You could easily be out of the room when you hear the winning bingo call and come in to find out it’s in fact you who has won the game!
Another perk online bingo sites offer players that they wouldn’t find at their local bingo halls, are the bonuses. Most online bingo sites offer some kind of welcome bonus when customers sign up so they can try some bingo games for free before making a deposit, followed by a 1st and 2nd deposit bonus (this is currently 150% here at Bingo Hall, considerably higher than other competing bingo sites) and from there on it’s non-stop; online bingo players will consistently be rewarded with all kinds of promotional incentives and gifts for playing bingo online and other online games the site features. These are not really monetary benefits offered at land-based bingo halls.
Now, just because online bingo sites offer you a way to play bingo games from the comfort of your own home, doesn’t mean that the community factor isn’t there if you want it. The majority of online bingo sites offer online chat rooms. Here at BingoHall we’re very proud of our online bingo chat rooms and the response they’ve had from our loyal players. It gives the bingo players the chance to interact with fellow players and the friendly Chat Monitors who are there to mediate and play special side chat games with players during the bingo session, and of course, win extra prizes and “bingo bucks”! Bingo players can also meet other players at land-based bingo halls, but the difference is that at a local hall you do really need to concentrate on your cards and the calls in order not to miss out on your game, so it’s not exactly like you can sit there and chat with friends.
Where is Online Bingo going from here?
Well, asides from the online bingo websites expanding within themselves, with more and more players joining every day, and more and better games being offered, bigger prizes and higher jackpots; we also hear talk of bingo sites enhancing the in-game chat rooms in terms of social-media applications commonly found in places like Facebook, where, for example, you can send your online friends digital gifts; so we might soon be seeing our online bingo players buying their bingo buddies rounds of drinks during the game! The next best thing may also be the mobile bingo, allowing people to play bingo from their mobile cell phones, and thus, take bingo with them wherever they go!
So, in closing, we invite you all to tell us what you think:
Why do YOU prefer online bingo over the land-based bingo halls?
Were you a regular land-based bingo player before you joined our Bingo Hall online community?
And, what do you think would be some interesting things we could be seeing in the near future of online bingo?

Horaayy..there are 9 comment(s) for me so far ;)
i love online bingo because i don’t have to go anywhere to play and i can play when i want, and how much i want. i think its great. i still go to land bingo often.
I very rarely go to land bingo now. (I couldn,t afford both lol). I love this site and the roomies and CM,s who all make you feel welcome and we have our own little community here – its great. Everyone shares a worry or a joy and make life long friends here. Everyone is very supportive to each other – lets face it we all have troubles of one sort or another, and that is something I don,t think you get at land bingo. All the staff are most helpful from live help to admin, I just don.t think you could possible go wrong playing here at Bingo Hall.
I like this web really much.

Well I think online bingo is better than land based bingo but my opinion is a bit biased eh?
I love playing bingo online. You can make noise and not worry about disturbing your neighbors. You can eat, drink, clean and cook while playing! It is better at home because there is no weather or traffic. It’s just plain fun!
I am definitely bookmarking this page and sharing it with my friends.
I prefer online bingo cause you can play from the comfort of your own home. You can also play by yourself so you don’t have to talk to annoying people.
I prefer playing online bingo cause then I dont have to leave my house.
I love online Bingo Bingo Hall is the only place to play. I live in a small rural community and we have no bingo available so this is great for me
